The chief nuclear envoys of China and South Korea are to meet in Beijing. The two countries have maintained close communication on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue.
Since the Democratic People's Republic of Korea's nuclear test last week, South Korea has stepped up diplomatic efforts to win international support for a strong UN Security Council sanctions resolution. China's Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Affairs Wu Dawei will meet his ROK counterpart Hwang Joon-kook. They are expected to further discuss their responses to Pyongyang's action.
Next Tuesday, Hwang will fly to Moscow to meet with his Russian counterpart Igor Morgulov for further talks on the issue.
