Performers get ready for gluttonous gala
CCTV Spring Festival Gala, a celebration broadcast on Chinese New Year’s Eve that has billions of viewers. Director Feng Xiaogang has been busy in the rehearsal hall, while performers are practising well into the night.
It’s ten o’clock at night young performers of a Kung Fu program are still rehearsing in the hallway. Director General Feng Xiaogang hurries through the crowd, apologizing to fans seeking photos. His schedule is packed. Feng is busy reviewing every performance, giving advice to his associates and leaving the rest to others on his directing team.
Directors and performers have been working until late at night. The Kung Fu performers are students from Shandong Province; among the 68 team members, the oldest is 15 while the youngest is only 6.
Almost every young performer here is wounded in one way or another. The dry weather in Beijing is also causing many throat problems.
Young as these performers are, every participant in the CCTV Spring Festival Gala has a dream, and they are working hard to achieve it. New shows are still coming in, and the people rehearsing here are working hard to stay on the final list.
