On Thursday, he gave his most important speech yet on Chinese policy on the middle east. From economics and trade to the peace process in the region.
A much-anticipated speech by the President of the world's second largest economy on his country's policy towards the Middle East, a war-ridden region which President Xi took care to mention is also a "land of abundance"
"In order to strengthen industrial production in the Middle East, China, in cooperation with Arab countries, will take several steps to join forces in production capacities," Xi said.
"These steps will focus on giving a push to the industrial and financial sectors in the Middle East worth 15 billion dollars. The money will be used in collaborative projects within the region in the fields of production and infrastructure. We will also offer trade credit worth 10 billion dollars for countries in the Middle East."
President Xi also announced plans to set up funds with the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, worth a total 20 billion US dollars to invest in conventional energy.
And it wasn't just economy and trade that President Xi had on his mind, he also touched on issues from Palestine to the Syrian crisis.
"To uphold the lawful national rights and interests of the Palestinian people is the lofty mission of the Arab League and the shared responsibility of the international community. The Palestinian issue should not be marginalized, still less should it fall into oblivion," Xi said.
President Xi re-affirmed China's support for an independent Palestinian state.. and on the Syrian crisis, he urged peace talks between the Syrian government and opposition.
And the Chinese President made it clear that China has no intention of playing a political game in the region.
"Instead of looking for a proxy in the Middle East, we promote peace talks; instead of seeking any sphere of influence, we call on all parties to join the circle of friends for the Belt and Road initiative," Xi said.
Before the Arab League, President Xi's message was clear. China wants win win cooperation with the land of abundance.
