While lovers indulge in a romantic mood this Valentine’s Day, some couples are beginning to plan for their spring and summer weddings. At this year’s The Wedding Fair in Hong Kong, pastel colors and two-piece wedding gowns are proving top choices for spring and summer brides.
And exhibitors say Paris has remained a favorite destination for pre-wedding photo shoots, despite last November’s attacks in the city.
While white will always be the traditional choice, some brides are planning to bring pastel colors into their upcoming weddings. The Wedding Fair in Hong Kong is welcoming Valentine’s Day this Sunday.

From dress designers and ring-makers to venue providers, more than 200 exhibitors are showcasing everything a couple might need for their big day.
When choosing gowns, brides-to-be are not just thinking about how they look, but also planning their pre-wedding photo shoots.
Industry insiders say having these photos taken is still a must for many Hong Kong couples, along with banquets and honeymoons.
“For spring and summer, wedding gowns with a separated top and skirt are more popular, because the newly-weds usually go overseas for their wedding photo shoot, those styles are easier for them to wear and carry along,” said Connie So, Bridal Consultant of Alisha & Lace.
once the outfits are settled, the couples then have to decide on the destination for their photo shoot. While Southeast Asian beach resorts are a popular nearby choice for Hong Kong couples, Paris remains a favorite.
“The worries just lasted for two months. When the Paris attacks happened, there was some impact on customers’ decisions to go to Paris. We saw some impact of that on our photo shoot trips in November and December, customers changed their trips to other locations,” said Joseph Wong, Director of Joseph Photo and Video.
“But now we are receiving bookings for Paris again. I think Paris is still a favorite for couples. Also the euro currency is low compared to the strong Hong Kong dollar.”
As well as a big feast on the wedding dinner table, cupcakes and cookies with colorful frosting are also on offer to sweeten up the guests.
