Chinese family to sue San Francisco gov't for compensation
The family of the Asiana Airlines crash victim is now demanding compensation from the city of San Francisco, saying their negligence caused their daughter’s death. CCTV NEWS has just talked to the victim’s father on the phone about the pending lawsuit.
It’s been more than 190 days since 16-year-old Ye Mengyuan was crushed to death by a fire truck after miraculously surviving a plane crash at San Francisco airport. Racing to the crash site to put out the burning plane, the fire truck ran over Ye Mengyuan, killing her instantly.
Speaking to CCTV NEWS, Ye’s father talked about the distress he’s felt, saying he’s now ready to take legal action against the city of San Francisco.
This would be the first case of a Chinese victim’s family seeking government compensation in another country. Experts warn it isn’t going to be an easy battle
