Pakistan's Supreme Court has ordered the government to lift a travel ban on former President Pervez Musharraf.
This paves the way for him to leave the country while awaiting trial for a number of charges including treason. A provincial court had ruled that Musharraf be allowed to travel abroad to seek medical treatment for various ailments.
The federal government appealed that decision but the Supreme Court rejected it on Wednesday. Musharraf's party welcomed the Supreme Court order and assured the former leader will return after two months.
