CCTV9英语新闻:博鳌论坛发展回顾
The Bo'ao Forum for Asia, or BFA, is a non-governmental and non-profit international organization with a fixed conference date and a fixed domicile.
Over the past more than one decade, it has become increasingly influential in Asia and around the globe. Now let's have a look at the forum's development.
The high-end dialogue platform was established in 2001.
The forum gets its name from Boao, a coastal town in China's southernmost island province, Hainan.
Annual conferences have been held there since 2002.
The forum's mission is to promote economic exchange and cooperation within Asia, and between Asia and other parts of the world.
It also aims to bring together leaders in government, business, and academia to share ideas on pressing issues.
Discussions range from the economy, society, environment and beyond.
In 2006, the number of initial participant countries expanded from 26 to 28, with the addition of Israel and New Zealand.
By 2015, the forum had already had more than two hundred members...from Asia, North America, Europe and Oceania.
The members are involved in a wide range of sectors including finance, government, basic industry and energy.
