Many Belgians have spoken out against the unexpected showing of anti-Muslim, anti-immigration protesters at the memorial square.
"It's more a place to be together, talk together and say how we feel, not to use violence," said a Brussels resident.
"It's not the right place, it's not the right moment. If they are troublemakers, they don't come to reflect, they come for trouble. They do that in all demonstrations, when they can," said a Brussels resident.
