Mainland opposes any obstacles to developing ties
Speaking on the 'cross-Strait agreement supervision draft law' that authorities in Taiwan are now in the process of examining, a spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council said that the basis for cross-strait talks should not be damaged and that the mainland opposes any obstacles to developing ties.
"The basis for consultations and negotiations cannot be damaged. The two councils' authority in authorising consultations and signing agreements should be maintained,"
"Anything that damages the basis for consultations and negotiations between the two sides of the strait, interferes in or impedes relevant progress or puts up man-made blocks on the development of ties, we will resolutely oppose," said An Fengshan, spokesman of Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.
