A spectacular fireworks extravaganza was held in Hong Kong as one of the activities to commemorate the 20th anniversary of its return to China.
The 23-minute show adopted multimedia elements including LED screens, beam lights, and music to highlight its theme, "Finding new opportunities after two decades of returning to China."

Of multi-shaped fireworks blooming over the skyscrapers, some featured the smiley faces, flowers, hearts in blazing fireworks glory.
During the eight-segment show, a wide range of music, from English songs to local pops, were played as a background.
Thousands of people witnessed the fireworks show, starting at 8:00 p.m. local time over the Victoria Harbour.

The display stretched 1,250 meters in length with nearly 40,000 pyrotechnic shells fired from five barges.
Around 12 million HK dollars have been spent on the event, making it the most expensive fireworks display since 1997.
