Italy boss to begin role after 2016 European championship

Chelsea have their new man. The club fired Jose Mourihno earlier this EPL season after floundering near the bottom of the standings, and have been under the stewardship of Guus Hiddink ever since. The Dutchman was only going to be a fill-in, until a permanent replacement was found. And some has been found, and it is drum roll. Antonio Conte. The current coach of the Italian national team will take over the reins at Stamford Bridge following this summer's European Championship. The 46-year-old has signed a three-year contract to take over the club.

Coincidentally, the announcement comes on the same day Conte was due to go on trial charged with failing to report knowledge of match-fixing when he was in charge of Siena in 2011. He claims to be innocent. The trial is part of a criminal investigation involving more than 100 people. Conte is most fmaous for his time at Juventus, leading the "Old Lady" to three Serie A titles, including an unbeaten campaign in the 2011-12 season. He takes over a club that is a year removed from winning the EPL, but have been in a shambles this year, they were languishing at the bottom of the standings, when Mourinho was canned, but have played better under interim boss Hiddink. Conte will be expected to have the Blues back near the top of the standings next season.
