Wang said Myanmar is standing at a new starting point in history, and China is ready to join hands with the new government to carry forward the traditional China-Myanmar friendship.

He said China hopes to deepen political mutual trust and expand the mutually beneficial cooperation so as to "open up a new chapter" for bilateral relations.

Meanwhile, Suu Kyi noted Myanmar and China are neighbors with their interests closely connected. She said China's help in various aspects means a great deal for Myanmar's national reconciliation and development.

"I'm very honored to be invited to Myanmar the first year after the new administration took office. It represents the friendship between China and Myanmar as well as the importance the two sides see in bilateral ties," Wang said.

"The two country's economies are highly complementary, so there's a huge potential and space for bilateral trade and cooperation. China can become a reliable and long-term partner to Myanmar, helping it to boost its economy and improve people's livelihoods. We look forward to realizing mutual development and prosperity."

"Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi pays us an official visit in the first week of our new administration. We have discussed economic cooperation and enhanced friendship between our two countries. We believe that friendly cooperation between China and Myanmar will benefit the development of our country," Suu Kyi said.
