The United Nations' Special Envoy for Syria will embark on a number of meetings with key international players, before the next round of peace talks between the Syrian government and opposition groups. Staffan de Mistura said he will "verify the international and regional stakeholders' position" before the negotiations, which are expected to start sometime around April 13th in Geneva.
"The next round of the talks need to be quite concrete in the direction of a political process leading to real beginning of a political transition."
"I need to verify the international and regional stakeholders position in order to see how the level of critical positive mass leading to concrete results in the next round of talks," Mistura said.
