MATCH STOPPED BECAUSE OF FAN VIOLENCE
Another Brazilian match has been stopped because of fan violence. Police used pepper spray on the hooligans, and that blew onto the pitch affecting the players, creating chaotic scenes in the cup match between Botafogo and Sport Recife.
The first signs of trouble came when the players had to stop running, and many needed to take on fluids because the pepper spray had got in their mouths. Meanwhile in the stands, fans ran amock, goading police, who used more spray.
More ugly scenes for the country, which will host the World Cup in five months. A fight broke out between rival supporters when a player was sent off. The match did restart, and finished 1-1.
