《英汉大词典》主编陆谷孙教授去世 享年76岁
前复旦大学外语学院教授、英汉大词典主编陆谷孙先生逝世,享年76岁。7月21日陆谷孙被诊断出脑出血入院。陆谷孙出生于浙江余姚,毕业后一直在复旦大学教英语。
Lu Gusun -- a former English professor at Shanghai's Fudan University and editor-in-chief of The English-Chinese Dictionary -- has died at the age of 76. He had been hospitalized since he was diagnosed with a cerebral hemorrhage on July 21st.
A native of Yuyao in Zhejiang Province, Lu had taught English at Fudan University since graduation. He retired about two years ago and had been working full-time on the The English-Chinese Dictionary’s third edition with students and professors at the university.

With more than four thousand pages, The English-Chinese Dictionary has been widely acknowledged as the best of its kind in China, and has influenced many Chinese people. Lu has translated more than two million characters, and published ten translated works including The Young Lions, The Moneychangers, and Prisoner of Second Avenue. A public memorial service for Lu will be held on August 1st, at the Shanghai Longhua Funeral Home.
