Authorities in Guangdong province have activated emergency measures on Monday to cope with potential damages from Typhoon Nida.

The provincial capital, Guangzhou, ordered the suspension of work, production, and school classes and ordered emergency and rescue personnel to be on alert.
It also advised people to stay indoors and marine vessels and fishermen to harbor. Sea travels and hundreds of local flights to and from Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Zhuhai have been canceled.
