A zoo in Russia’s western city of Tyumen has adopted an abandoned baby squirrel monkey, with the foster care being provided by a cat. Things are going well, as the baby monkey and foster mother seem to be getting along quite well.
Fyodor the squirrel monkey is only three weeks old. His foster mother, Rosinka, is a 16-year-old cat. Fyodor clings to Rosinka’s back no matter where she goes. Except for when he needs to be fed baby milk. Fyodor will go back to live with his family in a month.
A 16-year-old cat has adopted a baby monkey which was abandoned by its mother in a Russian zoo. The mother of the 3-week-old squirrel monkey refused to carry him on her back - which would have been essential for it to survive the first months of its life.
