Chairman of the National People's Congress, Zhang Dejiang, who has just finished an official four-day visit to Vietnam.
Zhang held talks with Vietnam's Communist Party General Secretary, Nguyen Phu Trong, and stressed the importance of deeper cooperation. Nguyen agreed to enhance links with China through party and state channels.
During a meeting with Vietnamese President, Tran Dai Quang, both sides agreed to maintain regular high level meetings and promote the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms.
Zhang also spoke to Prime Minister, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and discussed investment projects. They pledged to link China's Belt and Road Initiative with Vietnam's "Two Corridors and One Economic Circle" plan.
