Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi discussed escalating tensions on the Korean Peninsula with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov.
The meeting took place at the UN's headquarters in New York on Thursday. China's top diplomat vowed to keep communication lines with Russia open, and to further work on strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
Wang said the two sides should adhere to the UN Security Council's sanctions on the DPRK while ensuring international peace and stability. On the same day, Wang also met with former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.
