While bike sharing services are booming in China, a washing machine sharing service has now appeared in Shanghai. A facility that can serve as both washing machine and laundry dryer is located in a commercial plaza in Shanghai’s Xuhui district. The washing service is priced at 40 yuan ($6) for a washing machine with a volume of 18kg, or 20 yuan ($3) for a washing machine with a volume of 8kg. The drying service is priced at 10 yuan ($1.5) per 15 min for a laundry dryer with a volume of 18kg. Consumers can pay for the service with cash or mobile payment apps such as WeChat and Alipay.
