There have been national policies in terms helping the China’s disabled community access higher education since 1985.
With only one undergraduate school accepting physically disabled students at that time, many are frustrated about such a competitive environment.
After the China Disabled Persons’ Federation was founded in 1988, relevant supporting measures are gradually being seen.
The latest Statistical Bulletin of China’s National Education Development indicates that around 83,300 disabled students were accepted into college across the country last year. And there are 442,200 college students in total with disabilities.
While the problems for the disabled to going to college are being solved, there is still a long way to go after graduation and more polices are expected to see if China helps them to achieve their dreams.
