Changshu Institute of Technology has announced that it is not liable for the recent suicide of a female student, according to the family of the deceased girl. The student’s body was reportededly found naked on the ground beside a dormitory building in the early morning of Oct. 21.
最近常熟理工学院一名女大学生坠楼身亡，而据死者家属表示，校方声称对这起自杀事件无责任。据报道，10月21日清晨，人们在一幢宿舍楼旁边发现了这名女生赤裸着的尸体。
According to an employee of the university, the school informed the student’s family immediately after the body was discovered. The university has also set up a special group to work with police, the employee added. However, refusing to answer questions about possible motivation for the suicide, the employee said an official conclusion has yet to be reached by the police.
据该大学一名员工表示说，在发现尸体之后，校方立即通知了死者家属。据这名员工透露，校方还成立了一个特别小组来和警方合作。但是这名员工拒绝回答这名女生自杀有可能存在的动机，声称警方还没有得出正式的结论。
Already, the girl’s family has disputed the university’s statement. A family member surnamed Fan explained that the school didn’t inform them until nine hours after the body was found. In addition, Fan said the university agreed to negotiate with them, but no one from the school showed up at the scheduled appointment. Later, university security blocked them from entering campus, even shoving the girl’s mother to the ground, Fan said.
但是现在死亡女生的家属已经对校方的声明起了争执。死者一名姓范的家属解释说道，校方并没有立即通知他们，而是等到尸体发现9个小时之后才这样做。此外，据范姓家属表示说，校方同意和他们进行协商，但是到了约定时间学校方面却一个人也没有露面，后来学校保安就把他们堵在门外、不许进入学校，还把死亡女生的母亲推倒在地。
In a previous conversation, a vice president of the university stressed that the school is free from accountability for the incident. The vice president claimed that the girl’s family could file a lawsuit against the school if they wish. When the family questioned the safety measures of the university, the school replied that such measures are designed for the student body as a whole - not individual students.
在之前的一次谈话中，该校一名副校长强调说学校对这次事件不负有责任。这名副校长声称，如果死者家属希望的话，可以告学校。当死者家属质疑学校安全措施的时候，校方回复说这些措施是为整个学生群体设计的--而不仅仅只是为了某些个别的学生。
