Beijing police performed checks at several entertainment venues on Dec. 23, resulting in the shuttering of three nightclubs and the arrests of hundreds of people suspected to be involved in prostitution.
北京警方于12月23日对部分娱乐场所进行查处，最终查封3家俱乐部，带走数百名涉嫌嫖娼人员。
Working on tips, Beijing police raided numerous venues and arrested several hundred people at Baoli Club in Beijing’s Dongcheng district and two other clubs in Haidian district. The case is currently under investigation, the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau said in a statement on its Sina Weibo account on Dec. 25.
据北京市公安局25日在新浪官方微博发表的声明，根据举报，北京警方突查了数家娱乐场所，在东城区的保利俱乐部和海淀区两个俱乐部逮捕数百名人员，目前案件还在调查中。
A search for Baoli Club on Dianping, China’s largest consumer rating site, yielded over 50 comments, with clients claiming that average expenses in the club range from 2,500 to 3,500 RMB, including “service fees” for female staff. The club’s information had been removed from the review site as of press time.
根据中国最大的消费者点评网站—大众点评的结果显示，关于保利俱乐部有50多条评论，消费者称保利俱乐部的人均消费在2500元到3500元不等，其中包含女性工作人员的“服务费”。新闻发表前，俱乐部的信息已经从网站上删除。
According to Beijing Youth Daily, Baoli Club is a “top-notch” private club in Beijing, whose clients are “famous entrepreneurs and celebrities, both from within and outside of China.” The club recruited female "models” aged 16 to 28, who were asked to work from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. in exchange for daily paychecks.
据《北京青年报》称保利俱乐部是北京“一流”私人会所，其消费人士都是国内外的“著名企业家和名流。”此外，俱乐部还聘用16到28岁的“女模特”，为了每天的工资，她们每天必须从晚上8点工作到夜里12点。
This crackdown on prostitution is one of the largest in Beijing, after the notorious Passion Club was shut down in 2010. Beijing police raided thousands of entertainment venues that year, detaining 1,132 people and striking a blow to the city’s sex industry, the Xinhua News Agency reported.
新华社报道，这次的打击卖淫嫖娼行动是自2010年声名狼藉的“天上人间”俱乐部关闭后最大的一次，2010年北京警方突查了数以千计的娱乐场所，扣押1132名涉案人员，沉重打击了北京的色情产业。
According to the Regulations on the Management of Entertainment Venues, venues that offered sexual services will be forced to close for between three and six months.
根据《娱乐场所管理条例》，提供色情服务的娱乐场所将会受到3到6个月停业整顿的处罚。
