Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the forum that Iran is a concern for many Arab governments, just as it is for Israel.
Netanyahu says that Rouhani’s words are not to be trusted. He points out that Iranians say they oppose nuclear weapons, but at the same time insist on maintaining plutonium and advanced centrifuges. Netanyahu says the world has a mission to prevent Iran from getting or producing nuclear weapons.
Meanwhile, Israeli President Shimon Peres said at a press conference that the most important part of Rouhani’s address was the things he didn’t say. He says Rouhani did not express support for peace in the Middle East, nor did he say clearly the willingness to make peace between Israel and the Arabs.
However, Peres says Israel is ready to make peace with the Iranian people, pointing out that the two are not historical enemies.
