At least 37 inmates have died in a prison riot in Amazonas State, southern Venezuela on Wednesday, according to officials.
The hours-long riot between inmates and police officers happened in the town of Puerto Ayacucho.
Governor Liborio Guarulla had earlier tweeted that at least 35 corpses were found by a special interior ministry team after the "massacre".
Guarulla also said that the jail was holding 105 prisoners at the time of the riot.
Prosecutors said 14 officials were injured in the violence, but did not say if any were among the dead.
