Heavy snow in many parts of Central, East and Southwest China has caused trouble on the roads and led to power outages.
Snowfall since Monday in central China’s Hubei province damaged many power lines, leading to power cuts for more than 13 thousand residents. Emergency repairs were carried out and most households got power back by Tuesday afternoon. Vehicles were stranded on a highway. Now all roads have reopened and transport authorities have taken measures to prevent accidents.
In east China’s Anhui province, power was cut to a community, and was restored after four hours of rescue.
In Southwest China’s Yunnan province, 126 power lines were iced over. And authorities have initiated an emergency response to clear the ice.
In Southwest China’s Guizhou province, snow blanketed 64 of the total 88 counties. Traffic control was conducted on six highways. The snow also delayed planting of crops in the province.
