It’s eight in the morning at Jinzhouwan beach in Dalian. Bird watchers from across China are gathered here to witness the beauty of these rare creatures.

Over 4000 herring gulls and black-tailed gulls are join by 10 white-tailed eagles and buzzards.

"I came all the way from Beijing. I’m here to take photos of the white-tailed eagle. You don’t see these in Beijing." A tourist said.

At the Lyushunkou district in Dalian, residents living by the beach have been feeding the birds 4 years in a row. this year, for the first time the area has attracted the White spoonbill, one of the rarest birds in China.

"We advise wearing dark-colored clothes when going bird watching, the birds are sensitive to red, yellow and other bright colors. It’s also a good idea to keep a safe distance and not disturb them," Said Liu Hongtao, director of Dalian Wild Animal & Plant Preservation.

Dalian has seen a steady rise in the number of birds coming for winter. The city now welcomes more than 400 species of birds every year. This has to do with the increasing awareness of the citizens to protect the birds, but is also the result of rising temperatures in the city.
