China has urged Japan to properly handle issues related to China's Taiwan, after Japanese lawmakers proposed a law that would strengthen relations with Taiwan.
The comments come as 70 lawmakers from Japan’s ruling Liberal Democratic Party met on Monday to institute a Japanese version of the United States’ Taiwan Relations Act, which is not recognized as legitimate by China. The Act would enable Japan to pursue stronger economic relations and personal exchanges with Taiwan, including military arms trade. China’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Hua Chunying says China is deeply concerned over the Japanese move.
