Yvonne Sentob Honeycutt, age 88, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2022, due to a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. She was born September 20, 1933, in Casablanca, French Morocco to Elias Sentob and Camille Elbaz Sentob. Her Hebrew name was Esther. While working at Nouasseur Air Force base in Casablanca, she met and fell in love with a handsome GI, Willis Aaron Honeycutt. They married on December 20, 1953 and enjoyed a long and happy marriage until Willis died in 2005.

Yvonne was a dedicated mother first and foremost and will always be remembered this way. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Mamiche to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed her life, and her family would like to thank those who made this possible. She was the strongest woman her children have ever known. Yvonne wasn’t afraid of anyone or anything, she was fierce and protective. Her children were equally protective of their mother even though they were teased because she never taught them how to say the word alligator in English.

Yvonne didn’t smoke, drink or curse in English. When she spilled the gravy while cooking, she uttered a few interesting words in French. Her children, of course, committed those words to memory and repeated them. Often. Very often. Bad words in French sounded very beautiful and romantic; hence, a few mild reprimands were in order. She delighted in giving her daughters pixie haircuts (with sewing scissors) for which they were deeply embarrassed to be seen in public. Her three sons escaped the magic scissors by instead receiving buzz cuts. So, we were all sailing in the same unique haircut boat. Like she always said, “I treat all my children the same.”

Yvonne found her inner strength and her voice as an Air Force wife after having moved many times and delivering her children at different bases. She was world-renowned for her lack of patience, not holding back her opinion and a knack for telling it like it is. She always told you the truth, her truth, even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear. Everyone always knew where they stood with her. She liked you or she didn’t. All whom loved her dearly will never forget her tenacity and undying love and caring for them.

Yvonne is survived by her daughters, Patricia Honeycutt (Jeff) Marlowe of Atlanta, GA and Susan Honeycutt (Dauphin) Childs of Gray, GA; her sons, Alan Honeycutt of San Marcos, CA; Rodney Honeycutt of Long Beach, CA, and David Honeycutt, of Atlanta, GA. She is survived by four grandchildren, Camille Nobles (Jason) Stearns, Dauphin Vesro Childs, IV, Brent Ryan Honeycutt, and Danielle Nicole Honeycutt; great grandchildren, Ethan Jay Stearns, Elena Aerin Stearns, Dauphin Vesro Childs, V, Hunter Alexander Honeycutt, Layla Rose Honeycutt, Levi Kye Honeycutt; many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Suzanne Benichou of Montpelier, France; sister-in-law, Rosette Sentob of France. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elias and Camille Elbaz Sentob; her brother, Armand Sentob; and sisters, Julia Gabay, Lucienne Lhemon and Louise Thompson. All of these she loved and touched deeply.

Services were held on Friday, July 15, 2022, 11 a.m. at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville, GA with Rabbi Elizabeth Bahar officiating.
