Chinese leaders and political advisers have held a moment of silence for the victims of Saturday’s terrorist attack in the southwest city of Kunming, at the CPPCC’s opening session.

 Du Qinglin, vice chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, said the terrorist attack in Kunming has caused great loss to people’s lives and property. He condemned the terrorists behind the attack, and offered condolences to the victims. He also said the CPPCC supports efforts by law enforcement departments to crack down on all violent, terrorist and criminal activities in accordance with the law.

A group of attackers, armed with knives stabbed and slashed at people at Kunming railway station on Saturday, killing 29 people and injuring 143 others.
