“想当然”不是 "think of course"
想当然”出自《后汉书·孔融传》,原句是“以今度之,想当然耳。”它的中文释义是“指‘胡思乱想’下结论,以为事情和结论一定如此。其实不然。”是一个贬义成语。
如果说哪个英文短语最能形象表达“想当然”,那必须是 "take sth for granted"。它的意思是“认为某事是理所当然的”,其近义词是 "assume",有“臆想;假想”的意思。

"He takes for granted all that I do for him. "
他把我为他所做的一切视为理所当然。
“人山人海”不是
"people mountain people sea"
相信不少同学看到“人山人海”,会不由自主的想起那个小时候常说的中式英语,但现在你得改正啦!想表达“人山人海”你可以说 "a crowd of people / a sea of people","crowd" 可以表示“挤满;拥挤”。
例句
"There are a crowd of people in the room."
房间里有一大群人。

广场上人山人海。
“如履薄冰”英文怎么说?
歪果仁形容“如履薄冰”可不用 "ice",而是用“walk on eggshells”。指“行事小心翼翼,不敢出任何分差”。

"She s in a terrible mood today, and you ll have to walk on eggshells around her."
她今天心情很糟,你在她身边可得小心点。
“掌上明珠”英文怎么说?
曾经有部火遍全国的电影,它的英译影片名是 "You Are the Apple of My Eye",当时老师还不懂什么是 "apple of my eye",后来才知道它有“心中挚爱;掌上明珠”的意思。
"apple of one s eye" 这一词最早出现于《圣经·旧约·诗篇》第17章里:"Keep me as the apple of the eye."(求你保护我,如同保护眼中的瞳孔);在《旧约·申命记》第32章里,也曾出现过这一表达:"He kept him as the apple of his eye."
随着时间推移与文化融合,"apple of one s eye" 也渐渐从“瞳孔”衍生出“掌上明珠”的意思。

“小事一桩”的地道说法可以用一句英国的俚语表达 "Easy peasy, lemon squeezy." 形容“事情就像挤柠檬一样简单”。
*英国人为了押韵,把 "peace" 说成 "peasy","squeeze" 说成 "squeezy"。(*squeeze=挤)
