The World Health Organization has announced no positive samples of the H7N9 virus have been found in pigs or farms in China so far. WHO spokesperson Gregory Hartl has reassured the public that proper cooking kills the virus.

He said, "So basically, don’t eat diseased or dead animals to make product properly cooked, it kills virus, so it’s not a danger to you."

Hartl says animal samples that tested positive were from poultry markets, including live bird markets. Close contacts of confirmed cases have been closely monitored.

So far, none have tested positive. The W-H-O maintains there's no evidence of sustained human-to-human transmission. Further investigation continues. Hartl says Chinese health authorities have been working openly and closely with the WHO. The organization is considering appointing a panel to examine the situation in China.
