第三届中国豫剧节郑州开幕
Yuju Opera dates back to the Ming Dynasty and is one of the oldest opera forms in China. Now, the time-honored art is being celebrated in Zhengzhou, of central China’s Henan Province, at the 3rd China Yuju Opera Festival, which has just raised its curtain.
This year’s event has opened with "Madam Wei Jing", a new piece based on a real story that took place in the Sui Dynasty. The show is directed by renowned opera director Zhang Ping and has gathered top Yuju Opera performers, including Wang Hui and Wei Junying.
Originating in Henan Province, Yuju Opera enjoys great popularity all across the country. 34 shows from 11 provinces and regions will be presented during the festival, which runs through April 10th.
