Chinese vessel Haixun 01 has intensified efforts to detect signals emitted from the black box of missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, off Australia’s western coast.
Haixun 01 arrived Friday at a new search area, north of a 1.15 million square-kilometer area earlier designated by Australia. Chinese naval vessels Jinggangshan and Kunlunshan then joined up with Haixun-01 in the afternoon.
14 aircraft and 9 ships took part in Friday’s search, focusing on a 221-thousand square kilometer swathe of the southern Indian Ocean, some 1,500 kilometers west of Perth.
