「把叉子叉在我身上」听起来好像很怪，这个片语是从烹煮肉类衍伸出来的，我们在烤肉或煮肉时，会把叉子叉进肉里确认熟了没，所以如果说 You can stick a fork in me! 就是「我已经好了！」的意思，这个片语适用于许多场合，可以拿来形容事情完成了，或指事情无法再继续下去。
