暑假来啰！但是现在国外疫情严重，也不能出国，来看看 Sam 和 Tom 聊聊暑假打算做什么吧！
Sam: Hey Tom, summer vacation is coming! Do you have any plans?
Sam: 嘿 Tom，暑假要来了！你有什么计画吗？
Tom: Well, all the plans I did have are on hold because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Tom: 因为疫情爆发的关系，所以我之前的计画现在都耽搁了。
Sam: That’s true. Although a lot of events have been cancelled, I think so long as we are careful and protect ourselves, there’s still a lot to do.
Sam: 也是，虽然很多活动取消了，但是我想只要我们小心保护自己，我们还是有很多事情可以做。
Tom: Yeah. What’s your plan?
Tom: 对啊，那你的计画是？
Sam: Last year, I made plans to go and do a working holiday in Australia this summer vacation. But now, due to Australia’s immigration controls, I can’t go. So, now I’m planning to find a part-time job, hopefully in a café or somewhere similar.
Sam: 去年，我就开始计画今年暑假要去澳洲打工度假，但现在因为出入境管制我就没办法去，所以我现在打算找份打工，希望是在咖啡厅之类的。
Tom: You’ll need to be very careful. You’ll encounter a lot of strangers in a job like that.
Tom: 那你一定要非常小心，因为这样的工作会遇到很多陌生人。
Sam: I know, almost every store or shop in Taiwan has regulations that say their employees must put on a mask—sometimes even gloves—if they are in contact with customers.
Sam: 我知道，而且现在几乎所有台湾的商店都有规范员工跟顾客接触时要戴口罩，甚至还有手套。
先来学学打工的英文怎么说！
immigration control (n.) 入境管制
随着疫情变得越来越严重，各国也祭出相关出入境相关政策来保护国民，而入境管制就是控制移民移入，因此可以这么想：immigration 为名词，表示「移民，移入」的意思，control 表示「控制」，两者合一就是「入境管制」的英文喔！
Due to immigration controls, we can’t go to certain countries for the time being.
由于入境管制政策，我们从现在开始不能去特定国家。
part-time (n.) 打工
一般常见的 PT 其实就是 part-time 的缩写，而 part-time 就是「兼职，打工」的意思，那么反义词就是 full-time ，也就是「全职」。
He’s trying to find a part-time job now to cover his living expenses.
他现在想找一份打工来支付生活费。
put on a mask (phr.) 戴口罩
mask 是名词「口罩；面具」的意思，而「戴」口罩的动词应该用哪一个英文单字呢？你除了可以用片语 put on，也可以用动词 wear，两者差别在于 put on 强调动作，wear 则强调状态。
You need to wear a mask while taking public transportation.
搭乘大众交通运输时应该要戴口罩。
聊着聊着，Tom 也不禁在想他暑假可以做什么…
Tom: I still have no idea what to do during the summer vacation. I was going to going to go to Europe with my family. Now I’m stuck at home here in Taiwan.
Tom: 我对暑假还是没有任何想法，我原本打算要跟家人一起去欧洲旅游。但现在似乎我只能待在台湾。
Sam: Don’t be so pessimistic, Tom. There is plenty to see and enjoy in Taiwan. What about outdoor activities like hiking and climbing?
Sam: 不要太悲观，在台湾还是有很多好玩好看的鸭，像是健行或登山之类的户外活动呢？
Tom: What if it turns out that the places I go to have also been visited by people with the virus? Then I’ll have to self-quarantine at home.
Tom: 如果我去的地方最后变成有感染的人去过呢？那我就要被要求居家隔离了。
Sam: You’re just thinking too much. Even if that does happen, there’s still plenty to do if you are stuck in the house. For example, you can take online courses to learn something that you’ve always wanted to learn, or do some home workouts to keep fit.
Sam: 你想太多了啦，即使真的发生了，你还是在家还是有事情可以做，例如你可以上一些线上课程去学一些你一直都很想去学的东西，或是做一些居家健身维持身材。
Tom: That’s true. Worrying about it won’t help. All I can do is to protect myself as best as I can.
Tom: 也是，想太多也无法改变任何事，我要做的就是尽可能地保护自己。
Sam: If you want, we can look together for a part-time job over the summer vacation.
Sam: 如果你想要，我们可以一起找暑期打工。
Tom: Sure!

self-quarantine (n.) 自主隔离
防疫期间常听到的「自主隔离」意思是有和确诊病例接触者需要进行的隔离，其英文该怎么说呢？ quarantine 这个字可动名词同形，表示「隔离」，前面加上 self (自己) 就是「自主隔离」的意思。
If you have visited the affected area, you have to self-quarantine at home for 14 days.
如果你有去染疫区域，你就必须在家自主隔离 14 天。
online course (n.) 线上课程
如果防疫期间不知道要在家干嘛，上一些线上课程也挺好的，像是 VoiceTube HERO 或 VoiceTube Vclass 都是不错的选择！ 「线上课程」的英文很直觉地就是 online course，而「上」课的动词英文可以用 take。
As Internet speeds increase, online courses are becoming more and more popular.

home workout (n.) 居家健身
即便防疫期间活动范围受到限制，也别忘了在家也要维持身体健康喔！ 「居家健身」的英文就是 home workout，workout 为可数名词，「健身」的意思，是由动词片语 work out 衍生而来。
If you don’t have time to go to the gym, doing a home workout is a good alternative.
如果你没有时间去健身房，居家健身也是个好选择。
