Sofia: Guess what? I’m not single anymore!
Sofia:
Bob: Congratulations! Who’s the lucky guy?
Bob:
Sofia: Tom from my table tennis class.
Bob: Tom Smith? But…
Bob:Tom Smith 吗?
Sofia: But what?
Sofia:
Bob: Didn’t he just break up with his ex-girlfriend last week?
Bob:
Sofia: Really? I didn’t know that! Tom didn’t tell me either.
Bob: Of course he didn’t.
Bob:
Sofia: Do you think it’s possible that I’m his rebound?
Sofia:
Bob: I’m sorry to say but… it’s highly possible. I think that maybe he still hasn’t gotten over his ex.
break up (phr.)

rebound (n.)
Sally understands that she’s just her boyfriend’s rebound, but she’s not brave enough to end the relationship.
get over sb. (phr.)
get over…
It took Tommy months to get over his ex-girlfriend.
Tommy

Sofia
Sofia: I’m starting to wonder if Tom is actually not that into me…
Bob: You’re wondering if you’re just a replacement for his ex-girlfriend, aren’t you?
Bob:
Sofia: Exactly. What should I do?
Sofia:
Bob: My advice is to just go talk to him. Good communication is key to maintaining a healthy relationship.
Sofia: (Sigh) You’re right, I’ll go talk to him.
Bob: Good luck. And if anything goes wrong, you can always come to me for some help. I’ve got a lot of experience of the bad side of relationships.
Sofia: What kind of experience?
Sofia:
Bob: I’ve been cheated on, and there was even the time I found out my wife had a secret lover. Her two-timing was hard to take—and I was devastated at that time—but I’ve moved on! I bounced back!

Sofia:
Bob: (Crying) I’m fine! Never been better! I’m soooo over her!
Sofia: Bob, it’s alright if…
