1. a number of 很多=many
the number of …的数量，数目
说到双胞胎，这组片语应该是大家都曾搞混过的一组吧！
a number of 就是 many 很多的意思，所以后面接的当然是复数名词及动词啰。
例句：A number of students are absent today. 许多学生今天都缺席。
the number of 指的是…的数量，记得后面接的是单数动词。
例句：The number of career women is increasing.
2. pass out 昏倒
pass away 过世/死亡
天阿！这个片语一定要小心使用，不然把昏倒的人讲成过世的人就糟糕了！
例句：After hearing the terrible news, she passed out. 她听到这个可怕的消息后，就昏过去了。
例句：Her son passed away in a car accident last year. 她儿子去年在一场车祸中身亡了。
3. Do you have the time? 请问现在几点?
Do you have time? 请问你有空吗?
请问别人现在几点，如果不想再用 What time is it? 下次就试试看 Do you have the time?
不过要记得加 the 呦！不然变成 Do you have time? 就变成「请问你有没有空？」了
例句：Excuse me, do you have the time? 不好意思，请问现在几点？
例句：Do you have time? 你现在有空吗？

4. lose heart 灰心，气馁
lose one’s heart 喜欢上，倾心于
这组片语也是长的超级像啦！差一个所有格代名词意思就完全不一样啰。
例句：Don’t lose heart! Keep trying, I believe you can do it.
别灰心，继续加油，我相信你可以做到的！
例句：He lost his heart to Claire as soon as he saw her dancing.

5. take place 发生，举行
take the place of 取代
take place当「举行」的意思时，记得主词要使用事件，不可以用人称开头当主词，也没有被动语态。
*I took place a party at home last night. (x)
The party took place at my home last night. (o) 我昨天在家里开派对
至于take the place of ，则是「取代」的意思！
例句：Nowadays, e-mails have taken the place of written letters. 现在，电子邮件已经取代了手写的信了。
6. a few 为数不多的，少许，几个
a good few 相当多，很多 = quite a few
这组片语只差一个good就完全不一样啰！
大家应该都知道 a few 是一些些，很少的意思，不过加上了一个 good是什么意思？好一些些吗？
错了！ a good few 就是「很多」的意思了。
例句：There are still a few problems which remain unsolved. 还有几个问题还没解决。
例句：A good few of the employees are not satisfied with their salary. 许多的员工对自己的薪水很不满意。
