Henry: Hey Bob, I’m wondering… what game consoles did you play when you were little? Henry：嘿 Bob，我很好奇，你小时候都玩些什么游戏机？
Bob: Game consoles?
Bob：游戏机？
Henry: Yeah, you know, like Nintendo, Playstation, or SEGA? I used to play Nintendo when I was little.
Henry：对啊，任天堂和 PS、SEGA 之类的。我小时候都玩任天堂。
Bob: Your childhood sounds so much more fun than mine. My parents didn’t allow me to play games, much less buy a game console.
Bob：你的童年听起来比我的好玩多了。我爸妈不让我玩游戏，更不用说买游戏机了。
Henry: Seriously? But you must have played some electronic games, right?
Henry：真的假的？但你一定玩过电子游戏吧？
Bob: When I was in elementary school, Tamagotchi was a craze. We’d save our allowance to buy a Tamagotchi then compare each others’ Tamagotchi pets.
Bob：我国小时，大家很流行玩电子鸡。我们会把零用钱存起来然后买电子鸡，互相比较彼此的电子宠物。
Henry: Didn’t your parents notice that you had spent your allowance on a Tamagotchi?
Henry：你爸妈没发现你把零用钱花在电子鸡上面吗？
Bob: Luckily, they never found out. Tamagotchi were very small, you know.
Bob：幸运的是他们都没发现。你知道的呀，电子鸡很小。

game console (n.) 游戏机
game 在这边指「游戏」，而 console 当名词时，意思是「操纵台；控制台」，因此 game console 指的即是「游戏机台；游戏机」。
My favorite game console is the PlayStation, and my favorite game is The Sims.
我最爱的游戏机是 PS，最爱的游戏则是《模拟市民》。
console 还可以当动词，意思是「安慰；安抚」。
My friends consoled me when my pet passed away.
我的朋友在我的宠物过世时安慰我。
Tamagotchi (n.) 电子鸡
Tamagotchi 为日文，指的即是小巧可爱的「电子鸡」，由 tamago (蛋) 和 watch (手表) 结合而来。
The schools banned students from bringing Tamagotchi to school.
这些学校禁止学生带电子鸡到学校。
craze (n.) 风潮
craze 为可数名词，意思是「风靡一时的事物；风潮」。意思相近的字有 rage、trend 等。
Organic products are all the craze this year.
今年有机产品蔚为风靡。

Henry: Besides Tamagotchi, what else did you play when you were little?
Henry：除了电子鸡，你小时候还会玩些什么？
Bob: I also played GBA, a handheld console that allows you to play all kinds of cool games. My favorite games were RPGs.
Bob：我也会玩 GBA，是一种手持游戏机，能够拿来玩各种很酷的游戏。我最爱的一种是 RPG。
Henry: Cool. Do you mean role-playing games?
Henry：酷耶。你是指角色扮演游戏吗？
Bob: Yes, I used to play an RPG called Story of Seasons. I still feel nostalgic for it. It’s one of the best RPGs I’ve ever played.
Bob：对呀，我从前会玩一种叫做《牧场物语》的 RPG 游戏。想来还是决定怀念，那是我玩过最棒的 RPG 之一。
Henry: What is it about?
Henry：是和什么有关的？
Bob: In the game you play the role of a farmer who lives in a small village. You have to take care of your livestocks and your land. If all goes well, you’d marry a girl in the village.
Bob：你在游戏里扮演一个小镇里的农夫。你必须照顾你的牲畜和土地。如果一切顺利，你会和镇上的女孩结婚。
Henry: So is it a romance simulation game?
Henry：所以是一种恋爱模拟游戏？
Bob: Well, you can say that, but still, you can be a lonely farmer in the game and nobody would interfere with your life.
Bob：也是可以这样说，不过呢，要是你想在游戏里当个孤单的农夫，也不会有任何人干涉你。
Henry: No!! I’m lonely enough in real life.
Henry：不！我在现实生活中已经够单身狗了。
nostalgic (adj.) 怀旧的
nostalgic 意为「怀旧的」，为形容词，由名词 nostalgia (怀念；怀旧) 衍伸而来，这个字源于希腊语，由 nostos (回家) 加上 algos (伤痛) 所组成，原先意思其实为「想家的伤痛」。
I always feel nostalgic about my childhood.
我总是很怀念我的童年。
A wave of nostalgia surged inside of me when I opened the album.
在我翻开相册的同时，一阵强烈的怀旧感油然而生。
simulation (n.) 模拟
simulation 意指「模拟」，来自动词 simulate。
According to the computer simulation, the tires of this truck should be thicker to ensure safety.
根据电脑模拟，这辆卡车的轮胎必须加厚才能确保安全。
interfere (v.) 干涉
interfere 为动词，意思是「干涉；干预」，用法为 interfere between/with somebody (干涉某人)，和 interfere in something (干涉某事)。
You better not interfere with Sofia and her friend–to be honest, it’s none of your business.
你最好别干涉 Sofia 和她朋友，因为说实话，那不干你的事。
I don’t like anyone interfering in my life decisions.
我不喜欢任何人干涉我做的人生决定。
