approval (n.) 核准
Approval 是名词，意思是「核准，批准；同意」。它的动词形态为 approve，同样用来表示「核准；同意」，其常见用法有：approve sth.（核准……；接受……），如 approve the project（核准专案），另一个则是 approve of sth.（同意……，赞同……），如 approve of the legislation（赞同立法）。
The teachers gave us their approval to have a party at school.

performance evaluation (n.) 绩效考察
Performance 意指「表现」，在本篇对话中特指职场上的「工作表现，绩效」，evaluation 则是「考核；评估；考察；」。 Performance evaluation 也可以用 performance review（绩效审查）一词取代。
Performance evaluations in this company are conducted once a month.

report for duty (v.) 报到
Report 当动词用时指的是「报到；报导；汇报」的意思，而片语 report for duty 则是「报到，工作上岗」的意思，其中 duty 表示「义务；责任」。这个片语一开始是军队用语，后来被延伸用于职场。在此补充，如果 report 后面加的是 to，则是「向……报告」的意思。
Andy reported for duty at 7 a.m. today.
Andy 今天早上 7 点报到了。

assign (v.) 分派
Assign 为动词，意思是「分派，指派；分配」，如 assign jobs（分配工作）。
