擦香水 wear perfume

(X) spread perfume

I always wear the perfume that my mom bought me.

Paula: Are you wearing perfume?

Paula:

Tam: No, this is aftershave.

Tam:

Paula: Is there a difference between the two?

Paula:

Tam: Well… aftershave is scented spray that you put on your collarbone, whereas perfume…

Tam:

Paula: Aren’t they exactly the same?

Paula:

(X) white skin

The girl over there with fair skin, dark bushy eyebrows and dark eyelashes is Jenny.

I have dark hair but my brother’s is fair.

(去发廊) 剪头发 have one’s hair cut / get a haircut

(X) cut one’s hair

所以要表示去发廊剪头发,是别人帮忙剪的,要用 have one’s hair cut 或是 get a haircut。 Have something done 这个句型是指请别人帮忙替你做某件事情,而 get a haircut 的 haircut 是名词,记得要合在一起使用喔!

Steve: Do you want to get some lunch?

Steve:

Paul: I can’t; I’m actually on my way to get my hair cut.

Paul:

Steve: Oh really? Where do you normally go? I haven’t been able to get a good haircut since I moved here.

Paul:

Where are my glasses?

(X) Where is my glasses?

而当我们要说「一副」眼镜,会用 a pair of 这个量词,那么「两副眼镜」就是 two pairs of glasses 啰!

Chris: You know, I have an idea that would solve this problem — smart glasses.

Chris:

Anne: How would those work?

Anne:

Chris: They would be like Alexa. You would shout, “Glasses, where are you?” and they’d reply, “I’m over here!”

Anne: Right… but that’s not much use if you can’t see, which would be the case if you were looking for your glasses.

Chris: Good point.

Chris:

给你 Here you go. / Here you are. / There you go. / There you are.

Karen: Here you are.

Karen: 给你。

Cindy: Alright … There’s a small bag of screws down there.

Cindy:

Karen: (hands Cindy the screws) There you are.

Cindy: Okay, I’m going to pass you down something. (hands it down) There you go.

Cindy:

Turn off the light.

(X) Close the light.

(X) accept a call

另外补充一下,片语 get through (to sb.)

You should answer your mom’s calls, or she’ll keep calling until you go back home.

Alan: (checking phone) Missed call from an unknown number…

Mario: Did they leave a message?

Mario:

Alan: No, they never do. They just keep trying to call again and again.

Alan:

Mario:  I don’t know why they just don’t send a text or an email.  Especially if you didn’t answer the call the first time.

Alan: Exactly. Do they expect me to just drop everything and pick up their call?

Alan:
