We turn now to a household name in China’s business sphere, someone who has just been awarded Person of the Year by the Financial Times.

of the year.
Jack Ma, the founder of e-commerce giant Alibaba, stepped down as the company’s CEO earlier this year. It’s been 14 years since Jack Ma founded Alibaba. It has made him a billionaire, and an icon for entrepreneurial innovation. In the post-Ma era, Alibaba continues to generate record-breaking sales.
On November 11th this year, China’s equivalent of cyber Monday, Alibaba sold almost 6 billion USD of goods in 24 hours. Alibaba’s e-commerce sales have now overtaken eBay and Amazon combined. In China, Alibaba handles about 80% of all online commercial transactions.
Retaining his role as the company’s executive chairman, Ma’s influence and vision continue to be felt.
