南京丢失放射源铱已经找回,无人受到辐射损伤。天津宏迪工程检测发展有限公司5月7日在石化五建院内探伤作业时,丢失用于探伤的放射源铱-192一枚。
A radioactive source of Iridium was retrieved on Saturday in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu province, and nobody was affected by the substance, according to city authorities.
The c-192 source went missing when Tianjin Hongdi Engineering Testing Co was carrying out tests at the fifth construction firm of China's oil refiner Sinopec on May 7.
Iridium-192 is a highly radioactive source and potentially harmful – even resulting in death - if not handled professionally.
The authorities have now taken safety precautions and are also keeping people who were in close proximity to the substance under close medical observation.
