The Fjallraven Polar Expedition is a roughly 300-kilometer long trek across the frozen Arctic Tundra.
During the journey, participants travel via dog sled from Northern Norway, to the heavily-forested Lapland Region of Sweden. this project was organized to show that humans can make it through even the most extreme winter conditions, as long as they have the right knowledge and equipment.
once a competitive race, the expedition began inviting people from all walks of life two years ago. Thousands of hopefuls signed up for the latest edition, but only 28 were accepted, and for most, it was the first time they had come anywhere near the Arctic Circle.
The organizers say they also want to send a very clear message, in light of the climate change issues now facing the Earth’s polar regions, and are making it a point to stress the urgent need for greater environmental protection.
