韩国客轮沉没事故遇难人数已从14人上升到50人,下落不明人数降至252人,获救人数依然是174人。
The death toll of South Korea's sunken ferry has risen by 14 to 50, with those missing falling to 252. The number of the rescued is unchanged at 174. South Korea's Coast Guard says divers are combing the ferry today after retrieving more than a dozen bodies from inside the underwater wreck.
South Korean officials say about 560 divers are taking turns, while 204 Navy, Coast Guard and private vessels and 34 aircraft will scour the area. Dving operations are expected to pick up pace as five underwater routes have been set up. Workers have continued to pump air into the hull of the submerged ship, but could not stop its descent.
The ferry left the western port city of Incheon Tuesday night for the southern resort island of Jeju. It capsized off Jindo Island on Wednesday morning. Among the 476 passengers and crew were 325 high school students and 15 teachers on a four-day field trip.
