韩国官方已在新闻发布会上确认沉没客轮事故死亡人数上升至64人,仍有238人下落不明。

South Korean officials have said in a daily briefing that the confirmed death toll of the capsized ferry-Sewol, has risen to 64, with 238 people still missing.

Officials said there are now 234 ships, together with over 30 planes involved in the search and rescue operations. The current focus of work is to search the third and fourth stories of the sunken ship. Divers as well as underwater robots have been sent to continue the search and collect information on the ship.

The South Korean government has vowed to increase the budget to properly deal with the accident. They also pledged to make all-out efforts to conduct the search, despite rapid currents and high tides at the search site. The Sewol departed from the western port city of Incheon Tuesday night for the southern resort island of Jeju. It capsized off Jindo Island on Wednesday morning. Among the 476 passengers and crew were 325 high school students and 15 teachers on a four-day field trip.
