Chinese President Xi Jinping has pledged to resolutely crack down on terrorism and secessionism with high intensity to safeguard national security. He called terrorism the common enemy of the people. Xi made the remarks on Friday at a group study session on national security and social stability of the Politburo of the Party Central Committee.
The president called for improving counter-terrorism systems and abilities, and for the public to build a "wall of bronze and iron". He said violent terrorists have become swollen with arrogance. He stressed the need for resolute and decisive measures, and high pressure in the crackdown.
Other points were the fight against secessionism, and the promotion of ethnic unity and common prosperity. The president directed all regions and departments to shoulder responsibilities and cooperate to maintain national security and social stability.
