Russia continues to conduct military exercises near its border with Ukraine. The newest round which started on Thursday, involves ground and air forces.
"The Star" TV channel run by the Russian Ministry of Defense, reported that in exercises in Russia’s southern military region, all 50 unguided missiles carrying thermometric bombs hit their targets. In the Astrakhan Region, Mig-29 and Su-35 jets took part in air force drills. While the Baltic Fleet’s drills involved three frigates with the most advanced digital information processing system.
According to Russia’s RIA Novosti news agency, Russia’s Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said the military exercises could cool down the "hot head" of the Ukrainian interim government.
