Premier Li Keqiang is continuing his visit to Nigeria where he called for the strengthening of traditional ties between China and Nigeria.

During talks with Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday, Li said that China is ready to consolidate mutual trust with Nigeria, increase bilateral coordination in international and regional affairs and push forward relations to a new high. The premier said China is willing to promote trade and investment cooperation, work on balancing trade between the two countries, and deepen cooperation in agriculture and energy.
For his part, Goodluck Jonathan said he supports the expansion of bilateral cooperation and welcomes more Chinese investment. He also promised to create a friendly environment for investors.
After the talks, the two sides issued a joint statement and witnessed the signing of several cooperation agreements. During a joint press conference after the meeting, Li Keqiang expressed China’s willingness to work with Nigeria on financing infrastructure projects.
Li Keqiang arrived in Abuja from Ethiopia on Tuesday. He is also scheduled to attend the 2014 World Economic Forum on Africa, where he will meet with African leaders. Nigeria is the second leg of his four-nation African tour which will also take him to Angola and Kenya.
