It is raining in the Chinese capital Beijing. The weather department has issued a yellow alert for lightning and a blue alert for rainstorm for the day.
The capital had received an average of seven millimeters of rainfall by early Friday afternoon. The heaviest rainfall recorded stood at 36 millimeters, in north Beijing’s Yanqing County. The weather forecast for Friday for Beijing extends heavy rainstorms until the evening. The Municipal government has warned residents to avoid outdoor activities and pay attention to traffic safety.
Over in South China, heavy rains are continuing. The National Meteorological Center issued a yellow alert for rainstorm there. Over the next 24 hours, heavy rains will sweep across from southwest China’s Yunnan to southeast Fujian province.
